Sleep Less Than 6 Hours Prone to Stroke

If you have a habit of bad sleep should immediately find solutions to overcome it. Why? Recent research indicates, sleep less than six hours a night can significantly increase the risk of stroke symptoms. They should be alert to these risks is among workers age 40 and older and have a normal weight.

In the first paper, researchers from the University of Alabama in Birmingham include the 45-year-old participants 5.666 upwards, which monitored his progress for three years. The participants did not have a history of stroke, transient ischemic attacks, symptoms of stroke or high risk related sleep apnea at the beginning of the study. Results of the study showed, those who have habit sleep less than six hours every day had higher risk of stroke than participants who sleep enough.

Even the risk of stroke among the participants who sleep less than six hours was recorded four times higher than those who sleep between seven to eight hours. This risk applies to those who have a body mass index (BMI) normal and low-risk have sleep disorders sleep apnea.

"We speculate that short sleep duration is a trigger of stroke risk factors. When other stroke risk factors are present, they are likely to be stronger than the sheer sleep duration, "said study leader, Megan Ruiter, PhD.

Further research, advanced Ruiter, needed to support and provide a strong argument for doctors in a consciousness will be poor quality of sleep as a risk factor of stroke, especially among those who does not have the risk of a stroke.

"Sleep and sleep related behavior can be modified through cognitive therapy or drug delivery. These findings may be a basis in the use of sleep therapy in preventing the development of stroke, "says who published his research in Ruiter annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies-26 in Boston.
